Global Sports Industry Congress 2012

A special Olympic edition of Eventica’s annual sports industry summit, GSIC 2012 took place in the heart of the 2012 Host City during the Games themselves.

The 2012 GSIC took place on 2 August and was organised in association with our Lead Partner this year, PricewaterhouseCoopers, our Media Partner insidethegames.biz and our media sponsor, Eurosport. The opening session of the day set the tone and the core themes of the day: an overview of the major global sporting megaevents that will be hosted by Russia in the coming years, and an analysis of the key learnings from previous events that Russia can use to leverage its own preparations.

Speakers in the keynote session included Alexander Zhukov, President, Russian Olympic Committee; Dmitry Chernyshenko, CEO, Sochi 2014 Organising Committee; Vladimir Leonov, Director General, Kazan 2013; Oleg Samartsev, Executive Director, Russian Rugby Federation; Robert Gruman, Advisory Practice Leader, PwC Russia and Alexey Smertin, Ambassador for the successful Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup Bid. Later in the day, delegates and media guests heard from international commentators and players in the sports industry.
