The Habtoor Moscow Polo Cup

On 10 November 2008, a unique polo international match took place at the Dubai Polo & Equestrian Club between the Moscow Polo Club, and the renowned Dubai-based team, Al Habtoor, providing a social and sporting spectacle, attracting VIP guests from Russia, Dubai and around the world.

Played as part of the Russia Investment Roadshow programme in Dubai, the unprecedented event was attended by the crème de la crème. The event – which, like the Russia Investment Roadshow itself, was organised by Eventica – not only showcased the exhilarating sport, but also provided a relaxed opportunity for Roadshow delegates and guests to meet outside of the conference.

The game started with the Al Habtoor Polo Team scoring two quick goals in the first minute itself by 6-handicaper Fernando Bourdieu (Pipi) and Mohammed Al Habtoor. During the well fought out match, Mohammed Al Habtoor stroked in six goals off the total eleven scored by the Al Habtoor Team. The goals were equalised by the Moscow Polo Club and later Rashid Al Habtoor added to lead with 3–2 followed by Mohammed Al Habtoor who once again struck to take the score to 4–2 by the end of the first chukka.
