Eventica has organised its' 4th annual British press mission to Russia. Once again, participants included leading journalists from The Times, The Guardian, The Independent, ITV News and other top UK media outlets.
This year's programme saw a special focus on many of the lesser known personalities in Russian business - representatives of a new generation of entrepreneurs and CEOs. Despite being so well established within Russia, they are often overlooked by the Western media, though it is their success which is so critical to the country's future development.
A wide-ranging agenda saw meetings with many such top names, including Roustam Tariko, founder and President of Russian Standard, producer of high quality spirits and a leading consumer finance provider; Vasily Sidorov, CEO of cellular operator MTS; Mikhail Slobodin, CEO of Integrated Energy Systems, a leader in the new trend of vertically integrated power companies, and Sergei Vykhodtsev, who has built up a number of consumer brands now famous across Russia, including Bistroff.
The group met with other newsmakers as well, including Valery Okulov, General Director of Aeroflot, and Oleg Vyugin, Head of the Federal Financial Markets Service, who has embarked on a drive to encourage Russian corporates to list on domestic exchanges before launching IPOs on international markets.
As always, a Media Roundtable was organised in cooperation with The Moscow Times, with a lively discussion on the power of PR in influencing quality journalism. Vladimir Pozner moderated a strong panel which featured the participation of Aleksei Venediktov of Ekho Moskvy Radio, Guy Ker of ITV News and other prominent personalities.
Over the years, groups have called on many of Russia's leading power brokers, including Finance Minister Aleksei Kudrin, TNK-BP Shareholder Victor Vekselberg, Alfa Bank President Peter Aven, aluminium magnate Oleg Deripaska, Severstal Group Chairman Aleksei Mordashov and Presidential Adviser Sergei Yastrzhembsky.
