3rd Annual British Press Mission
Moscow and St Petersburg, 24-27 October 2004

The Russian Economic Forum organised its 3rd annual British press mission to Russia from 24-27 October 2004. Participants included editors and other senior journalists from The Times, The Guardian, The Independent on Sunday, The Observer, Bloomberg and the Evening Standard.

This year's programme once again included meetings with some of the biggest names in Russian industry, such as Sergei Bogdanchikov of Rosneft, Victor Vekselberg of TNK-BP, Alexei Medvedev of Gazexport and Leonid Fedun of Lukoil. There was also a glimpse at the 'new generation' of Russian entrepreneurs, during a meeting with a colourful and boisterous group that included Oleg Tinkov, founder of Tinkoff Breweries, and Alexander Korkunov, famous for the chocolates that carry his name.

This annual mission now always includes at least one day away from Moscow, and this year that meant a visit to St. Petersburg, where the itinerary included a tour of the massive Baltika Brewery, as well as a lunch hosted by George Edgar, the local British Consul General, where participants were able to meet a variety of local Russian and British business people, and representatives from the local Administration and various government agencies.
