For the second consecutive year, Eventica organised a press mission to Russia, in October 2003. This event is designed for editors and senior correspondents looking for a grasp of the political and economic climate of contemporary Russia.
Participants included leading journalists from The Observer, Guardian, The Times, The Independent and Wall Street Journal Europe, as well as a group from BBC TV that included an editor, producer and cameraman. Eventica organised a programme designed to give an inside glimpse of the political and economic landscape in Russia, with calls on leading business people, politicians and political pundits, including Alexei Mordashov, Boris Nemtsov, Dmitri Rogozin and Gleb Pavlovsky.
On the first evening, Charlie Ryan of UFG hosted a briefing dinner that was attended by British Ambassador Sir Roderic Lyne, and Roger Munnings of KPMG, and a Media Roundtable with Russian journalists was held the following morning, moderated by renowned Russian TV presenter Vladimir Pozner. The visit also included a visit outside of Moscow to Cherepovets, the home of the Severstal steelworks, to give the group an opportunity to see one of Russia's largest industrial works, and life away from the capital.
The mission once again coincided with the Confederation of British Industry's CBI) annual visit to Moscow, and on 30 October there was a lunch at the Baltschug Kempinski for both groups, where they also had the opportunity to meet leading representatives of Moscow-based Russian and British companies.
