Britain and Russia: The New Wave
Moscow, 7-9 December 2003

From 7th to 9th December 2003, Eventica took a group of UK IT companies to Russia for the third in a series of tailor-made events, in conjunction with UK Trade & Investment, the British government body responsible for promoting UK business overseas. Britain and Russia: The New Wave was designed to open up the growing markets of Russia to a wide variety of UK IT companies, from systems integrators and hardware producers to those involved in the more “creative” side of IT.

The event offered an unrivalled opportunity for UK companies to familiarise themselves with one of the world’s most prospective emerging markets, to sell their products to a rapidly-expanding consumer base, and to forge useful links with key players in the highly-developed Russian IT sector.

The conference's delegates have discovered that Russia has a lot to offer UK IT companies, for example:

  • The highest spending on information technology of all countries in Central and Eastern Europe
  • A vast market with a population of nearly 150 million
  • Huge scope for UK firms to offer their products, services and solutions to Russia’s fast expanding corporate sector
  • An unrivalled reputation for IT and programming expertise, with a highly-skilled workforce
  • In 2002, the Russian IT market was valued at over $500 million*

Programme

The highlight of Britain and Russia: The New Wave was a one-day meeting designed to give the UK delegates a feel for the Russian IT industry. The event featured an extensive programme of presentations and workshops that allowed British participants to meet potential clients and develop new business in the rapidly expanding Russian market. The meeting, which was officially opened by Sir Roderic Lyne, the British Ambassador to Russia, provided an opportunity to learn about the IT sector in Russia, as well as the possibilities for collaborative work with Russian software developers. A Networking Event - And More

In addition to the one-day meeting, Britain and Russia: The New Wave offered a concentrated 2-day programme, including visits to a selection of top local IT companies, allowing British participants to obtain unique insight into the latest trends in Russian IT, and opportunities for penetrating the Russian market.

The entire mission was organised in association with UK Trade & Investment, the export-support arm of the DTI and the Foreign Office in the UK.
