CBI Mission to Russia
Moscow, 5-9 October 2002

From 5-9 October 2002, Eventica once again assisted the Confederation of British Industry (CBI), the British Embassy in Moscow and the British Consulate General in St. Petersburg in the organisation of the annual visit CBI visit to Moscow.

This year’s group was led by Sir John Egan, President of the CBI, and Digby Jones, the Director General. It was the first visit to Russia for both of them, and a rare instance of them travelling abroad together – a sign of the serious attention Russia is currently attracting from UK companies. Other participants included senior management of Barclays Capital, Citigroup, BP, Shell, HSBC, Tesco, Bovis, Harrison Lovegrove and Symantec.

First stop was St. Petersburg, where the group visited Baltika Brewery and met with Governor Yakovlev. In Moscow, the programme included a roundtable with the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs and a call on Aleksei Kudrin, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of the Russian Federation.

A lunch organised by Eventica at the VIP National Club gave the visiting UK companies the opportunity to meet senior representatives of leading Russian firms as well as foreign expats based in Moscow. Guests included Peter Aven, President of Alfa Bank; Andrei Sharonov, Russian Deputy Minister for Trade and Economic Development; Vladimir Rashevsky, CEO of MDM Bank; Roger Munnings, President and CEO of KPMG Russia and CIS, and Michel Perhirin, Head of the Representation of Raiffeisenbank in Moscow.
